Peaches and Projects

About a month ago Donna and I canned some peaches.  It was my first time and they turned out pretty good!  It is definitely more fun doing it with some one else than it would be doing it alone.

Everyday I try and do something extra fun with my nephew Lucas while the babies are down for their nap.  Sometimes we watch a movie, read books, play games, go outside, or do some sort of educational thing.  He loves puzzles and one day we made our very own out of cardboard and scrapbook paper:)

I've been trying to do a couple fixer upper projects on the house and these UGLY monstrosities on the front of my house have been bugging me for 2 years!  I hated that the whole rest of my house was nicely filled with beautiful oil rubbed bronze features but the front of the house has these, ugly (I thought sun worn but really just painted this way) lights.

My brother-in-law Jared took them down for me and I got to work...

Primed..

And painted... PS  even though you use spray paint make sure you wear gloves because you could end up with hands like this... that you basically have to take a razor blade to, to get anything off.

And WA LA!!!  I can now breath a happy breath when I drive up to my house instead of a holding my breath from embarrassment.

And the total cost for this little project... a whopping $5.83   :)

Another thing that has been a bugger for the two years we lived here is this beauty..
Our home is plumbed for a central vacuum unit but the builder never finished.  When we bought the house we were told that this pipe was part of it, so I've had to trip over and look at this eyesore ever since.  It was bugging my brother--law enough that he got down there to see if he could cut it off at all.

When he took the duct tape off that was holding onto some wires this is what he found....

A pipe that says 'DO NOT GLUE' on the side of it..... so basically it was there just so some wires wouldn't get lost under the cabinets.  I have no clue why they couldn't have just taped them to the inside of the hole....

Now I no longer have an eyesore :)

Little projects are slowly coming along... at least I have something else to keep me busy though right?
