I've been trying to keep myself busy. Well.... busier than I already am. Aside from taking care of 3 little boys during the day I am trying to catch up on a bunch of projects that I've been wanting to do, or have already started and life just seems to get in the way. I spend 99% of my time with my kids and my little projects are my 1% of me time!
I've always wanted a garden and now that I have my own yard I really have no excuse, except for the fact that I have NO idea how to garden. So I'm starting slow, this year I decided that pumpkins would be fun so I got all my stuff and planted them in little pots and they grew, surprisingly enough.
But then I had a problem... They were to big for the pots and I hadn't gotten around to making grow boxes I hadn't asked someone to make grow boxes.
They kept getting taller with fewer and fewer leaves and I knew they were about to be goners. So because I wasn't about to take 3 little boys to home depot for wood by myself and by the time my sister and her girls got back from school and work, all i wanna do is eat dinner, give my boys baths and rest for the night... I had to think on my feet and become my own little DIY'er.
I thought of these....
They are ammo boxes and have been sitting in my closet for years. They used to be decoration in my old house on a really tall self and we just used them for my nephew Koopers 1 year pics. I didn't know when I would use them again and they seemed to be a perfect size!
I got out the old can of paint from this project and started painting away... (PS don't wear your wedding ring when you are painting with bare hands and using oil based paint. And if you do, make sure you have this stuff on hand, it works wonders!)
So I let it all dry, filled em up with dirt and replanted the pumpkins and I'm seriously amazed at how fast they are growing now!!
(Don't mind my long grass and the dirt surrounding it... It's another one of my projects.)
Yay for learning how to garden and being a DIY-er!
