The other night while we were getting things ready for dinner, things were getting kinda crazy!! The boys were in their chairs screaming, the TV was on and making more noise then it should have, and the Crock Pot Mac n' Cheese wasn't quite cooled down enough for the boys to start eating. I did what I had to... I grabbed those little prepackaged apple sauces and handed the boys spoons to go at it. I figure it's pretty good practice with spoons and bowls and although I knew that most or all of it would end up on the floor and in their hair I also knew that bath and bedtime was soon to follow. The babies did okay and it gave Kole and I peace and quiet for a few minutes while we were loading our plates and getting Kollin and Kleyton theirs.
After a few minutes of UNINTERRUPTED SILENCE (I put this in all caps because this NEVER happens) and being able to eat our food, we started commenting on how nice this dinner was and how they really must love mac n cheese. Kleyton was shoveling his food in both hands at a time not coming up for air, as usual. And Kollin was being clean and one bite at a time as usual. The reason for this post however is exactly HOW Kollin was eating one bite at a time.... About half way through our nice quiet dinner Kole and I stopped and stared at Kollin who was in his own little world, He would take one or two noodles, drop them in his applesauce, pick them up again and eat. Not just once or twice but every single bite was done this way for over half an hour!!! For some reason this happened to be the funniest thing and I guess mac n cheese tastes pretty good with applesauce (I'm not really wanting to try it so I'll take his word for it) But it also makes me a proud Momma to know that my 13 month old can entertain and feed himself for that long with that much concentration.
